Clean Eating Has Helped Me Balance My Sugar Levels

I have hypoglycemia and I'm always looking for a way to eat better to keep my roller coaster sugar levels at bay. I wasn't sure what "Clean Eating" was - until I read Clean Eating Made Simple. After several weeks using the ideas outlined in this book, I can honestly say I feel better, haven't had nearly as many hypoglycemic episodes and have even lost weight! My favorite advice is to focus on smaller meals, eat more fruits and vegetables (I always felt like the natural sugars in fruits were bad for me! Turns out, they are only bad when you are also eating cake and ice cream!) and never skip a meal. Sometimes it's easier to skip a meal rather than eat poorly when I can't find something healthy. Now I understand the importance of making SURE I have something healthy to eat with me so I don't fall back on skipping or eating crap. Lastly, perhaps the best note in the book is the fact that clean eating isn't an "all or nothing" deal. Do my best...plan ahead... and don't punish myself for being imperfect. Attitude is an important part of healthy eating.

Poor quality print

I did like the recipes in this book but I have to say that I actually had to get a magnifying glass to read them!!! The print is so small and when the recipe list the ingredients the print is not only small, it is light so it makes it even harder to read. I have no idea what they were thinking when they printed this book but i was poorly done.

A Little Too Simple

While the opening chapters literally beat you over the head with repeated definitions of “clean eating,” the bulk of this book consists of complicated recipes that contradict the basics of this current diet trend. Many recipes are presented that admittedly are not “100%” clean, so if you are looking for a strict tutorial on the subject, look elsewhere.
Still, there are plenty of interesting, though time-consuming, recipes for things like green tea smoothies, crab and celery lettuce cups and Thai chicken endive boats. The usual nutritional information and shopping lists are included with each recipe, and if you’ve got plenty of time on your hands you might enjoy spending it making your own peanut butter or learning just what to do with chia seeds.
