My everlasting love of this book

Theodora has done it again. This book combined some of the best parts of several of her novels and composed them into one. With her previous wolf series she proved she could do shape shifter fiction and with this new novel she proves she ain’t afraid of no ghost either. This is one of my first forays into the paranormal but TT handles its beautifully and gracefully. She makes ghosts seem eerie yet magical.
The book itself was suspenseful with some unexpected plot twists that leave you unable to stop reading. I completed the book in one sitting and am actually eager to go back and re-read it. For previous TT readers, you will not be disappointed if you enjoyed the Owner of His Heart and His For Keeps, as this story draws from a similar storyline.
As for the characters, I enjoyed Willa and Sawyer’s storyline immensely. Sawyer as the tortured former SEAL amputee and Willa as his reluctant physical therapist just drew you in. I would highly recommend this book for any previous TT readers and as a great introduction to the author for any new readers. You won’t be disappointed.
The only drawback is TT has a knack for giving you other character storylines that the reader is eager to pursue. She has several storylines that are currently up in the air from other novels and she just added a new couple to watch for. This is bittersweet because I can’t wait to read these other novels but then I have to actually WAIT for the other novels. It’s the sweetest kind of agony.

Great Read with Paranormal Twist

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed the latest story in the 50 loving states series. The paranormal twist the story had was different from the plots in the previous books. It added an underlying layer of mystery to the story, as I was trying to figure out exactly how everything was connected. As always, the author did a great job of weaving together the story of Willa and Sawyer. Willa was a physical therapist who had the same propensity her mom had to be able to see and talk to ghosts even though she did not want to do either. Sawyer was the guy who bullied her in school, but had grown up many years later when they meet after his time in the military. They were an unlikely couple but their chemistry and pull to one another was obvious and couldn't be denied no matter how much either one tried to do it. I also loved all the humor in the book. The supporting characters were hilarious. I loved WIlla's mom and all the ghosts we got to meet throughout the story. I also appreciated the slight nod to some of the other characters in previous books as 1 or 2 were slyly mentioned. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a steamy, yet sweet love story with a few twists and turns that will keep you guessing throughout. I also cannot wait for Thel's story. Hope it comes out soon.

Didn't see that coming

I loved the paranormal story of Willa and Sawyer. At first I was an ardent fan of Ms Taylor's after being introduced to the Wolf series, but now the Fifty States boys have been added to the list. I just have to say, this story was just so sweet. This love that could maybe have only blossomed for Sawyer when he was totally taken out of his element, had me sitting on the edge of my seat for the finale. His Everlasting love, was filled with humor from both Willa and Sawyers mothers. Then we have Willa's secretive sister Thel and then the overbearing Admiral, who is so lonely , he can't help but mess things up. Overall, Ms. Taylor did it again with this story of loves triumph when you have faith, trust and acceptance. And maybe a little help from a ghost or two.

Wonderful Book

I read so much and I am old enough to say, Howard's life could not have been that easy. The scrutiny from the narrow-minded community (not because of choice, but because of the absence of readily available information ), must've been difficult to deal with. I am sure the condescending questions and more did not help ease his decision to come out as a mouth piece for the truth. In the 50's-60's, people would rather just toe the line rather than ruffle the feathers of the so-called authorities of truth. Howard's stories come across as truthful and unembellished, but I am not a novice at reading stories such as these.

Great space opera brought to Earth

Howard was in contact with Saucerians from the various worlds of the Solar Federation long before the current crop of contactees started channeling members of the Galactic Federation, and in this book he details his adventures with various Venusians, Saturnians and Martians. He even documents his travel to a lunar base over a decade before Apollo astronauts landed there. A great read, with illustrations from out of this world.

a good picture book

i find the book description found on this site to be blatantly misleading.

"This book presents over 200 outstanding stationery projects from companies all over the world, analysing their strengths, with comments from specialists on the role of corporate identity today."

the book simply shows examples of various stationary work, there is no analysis of strengths, no comments from specialists, just pictures and labels indicating who made the design and for whom.

if you are looking for a book full of good examples of stationary work this is a must have, but that is all, it is an all senses of the word, a pictures book.

on a physical note, the book was sent to me dirty and slightly damaged, all of this found under a clean and undamaged plastic wrapper.

as for the construction of the book it is overall well built. The book is a good size, (comparable to a netbook in both size and weight). it is quite heavy due to thicker good quality paper and a thick card stock for a cover. the pages themselves have rounded corners and the book can be opened to lay flat. there is also a seemingly pointless elastic attached around the book serving only to keep the cover flush with the book, as the pages themselves form a solid block. the paper and print quality are very good. but the binding of the book, more specifically the spine lining is of poor quality with the paper separating from the signatures of the book.

pretty but not informative

Visually the book is gorgeous. Spreads upon spreads of beautiful, classy stationery design. I think it would be a huge plus if some of the elements were explained in slight detail for each or every other design, just to make it more informative for the new designer. I'm not complaining though, I love the book. It's been a great reference point for someone who's never collected magazines/stationery/print samples in her life and suddenly needs to look at examples.

About the Author

Antony R. Rees, Formely Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), Biotage AB, Uppsala, Sweden and Professor Emeritus and Honorary DSc, University of Bath, UK

Anthony Rees is currently Chief Scientific Officer for the biotechnology company Biotage, Sweden. He was lecturer in Molecular Biophysics and Student of Christ Church from 1980 to 1990 at the University of Oxford. From 1990-1997 he was Professor and Head of the School of Biology and Biochemistry, University of Bath where he is an Emeritus Professor and holds an Honorary Doctor of Science. In 1989 he was a scientific cofounder with Graham Richards of Oxford Molecular, which became one of the earliest UK biotechnology companies to be listed on the London Stock Exchange. He has been visiting Professor at the Universities of Montpellier and Lund, scientific director of the French company Synt:em, CEO of the Swedish company MIP Technologies and Chairman of the Board of the antibody technology company, F-star. He is a member of the American Association for the History of Science and has published more than 120 scientific papers, a number of books and is an inventor on more than 30 patents.

Peter David's breakout stories at Marvel Comics.

Peter David has been a mainstay of Marvel (and, in the mid-1990s, DC) Comics since the early 1980s, bringing a mix of intelligent humour and serious drama that few writers can equal (he's especially adept at shifting tones from comedic to dramatic and back without seeming forced). His breakthrough moment came in October of 1985, when he got a shot at writing "The Spectacular Spider-Man" for four issues (#107-110). This hardcover collection, the first time the story has been collected in nearly 21 years, is long overdue, and includes for the first time both the original story and its three-issue followup written some time later (issues #134-136 of the same series), also by David, with art by Rich Buckler and Sal Buscema. This is one of the essential Spider-Man stories, and could be considered David's best work, though there is plenty of competition for that honour. Spoilers follow.

"The Death of Jean DeWolff", the initial four-parter, was a significant story at the time of its release, and to this day is considered one of the most effective 'dark' Spider-Man stories. NYPD Captain Jean DeWolff was a recurring castmember in Spider-Man's world from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s, largely within the "Marvel Team-Up" title that regularly featured Spider-Man; this story opens with a brief recap of her life history (rarely a good sign for a character), before arriving at the titular death. The rest of the story is a distraught Spider-Man's quest to apprehend her killer, the so-called Sin-Eater, who is on a rampage of purifying vengeance throughout New York City. Also involved is Daredevil, and his relationship with Spider-Man arrives at a major turning point in these pages, as they at last exchange civilian identities (or, rather, Murdock lets Peter know who he is and that he already knows Peter's ID due to his own powers). Everything about the story works, and several members of Spider-Man's longtime supporting cast (such as J. Jonah Jameson and Robbie Robertson) also have notable moments.

Less heralded than the first story but in some ways more complex and more tragic is "The Return of The Sin-Eater", published a bit more than two years later, when (somewhat implausibly) the apprehended Sin-Eater (I'll refrain from giving his real identity in this review) is released from psychiatric care into the world again. Physically maimed from his encounter with Spider-Man, he is repentant and struggles with the attempts by his psyche to reassert his Sin-Eater persona. Spider-Man, meanwhile, does not take his release well, and does not believe that he is really attempting to turn a new leaf; at the same time, Electro is at large and poses a new challenge to Spider-Man. This three-issue story is in many ways not Peter's story, but the Sin-Eater's, and its conclusion is remarkably affecting.

Some of Spider-Man's best stories, and highly recommended for fans of comics.

Arguably The Closest Spidey has Come To A Deconstruction

Produced in the 80's around the time of watchmen and the dark knight returns, the Death Of Jean Dewolff was something completely different for spider-man. The death mentioned in the title, referring to spider-man's ally police captain Jean Dewolff is murdered in her home. Not a heroic death, in fact a subversion of what people might expect. The story then takes several twists and turns and explores such things as moral relativism vs. moral absolutism and the failures of the justice system. While not a full deconstruction of spider-man and superhero comics, it does come close, particularly in the second story in which we see the reality of what would happen if someone with spider-man's strength were to unload their anger on someone. This was Peter David's first professional comic work but you can be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Everything is so well thought out and well written that one may think he wrote this well into his career.

This is a classic. If you have some basics and like jazz, I've found the articulation markings very helpful. There is an intermediate and advanced edition as well as a duet edition. You can also get them with a CD. I love to play these exercises and songs!
